Follia d’Amore: I can’t get this song out of my head!!! Recently at the Sanremo Festival (the most famous Italian song competition), Raphael Gualazzi won first prize in the youth category with this song and let me tell you how talented he is! This young man writes his own songs, plays the piano like Jelly Roll Morton, and sings the blues! He’s very influenced by ragtime, a distinctive characteristic of his playing. What I like about him is that his style differentiates him from the rest of modern day singers. I love swing, and he’s got it! There’s a part in this song, when the wind instruments do their thing, where you’ll feel like it’s the 1930’s in New Orleans! If you like jazz music, and music that actually has a melody (in a good old fashioned way), you’ll enjoy this. Follia D'amore is also in the movie Manuale d'Amore 3, a romantic comedy with Monica Bellucci and Robert De Niro and many others. Italian music has really been in need of a bit of a change. Finally, refreshing music and talent, I’m proud to say Raphael is Italian!
